Spend the summer of a lifetime as a camp counsellor at an American summer camp!

General Counsellors do not specialise in any particular area and are primarily responsible for the overall activity programme and care of a small group of children. You are therefore required to have extensive childcare experience. You do not need to be an Olympic athlete of even a certified teacher just an individual who enjoys travel, meeting new people, sports, activities and working outdoors in a fun environment!

To be a camp counsellor you'll need an enormous amount of energy and enthusiasm, as it is a demanding role. The children will rely on you to guide them through a wide range of activities and you must have the charisma to work with a group as well as the sensitivity to listen to the individual. You'll be required to be with the children for 24 hours a day and they will expect you to be a role model, teacher, mediator, comedian and friend. If you have loads of energy, enjoy working with children, and think you can make a child's summer the best ever, then you are a PERFECT candidate!

Camp America is part of the America Institute for Foreign study has been in the business of cultural exchange for over forty years. It is an established programme that provides 24-hour support every step of the way.

Minimum 9 weeks

Requirements

If available, please provide details of any relevant qualifications, as some proficiency will be required. You will also need the right attitude and the enthusiasm to work with children of all ages.

In addition you must:
Be 18 years old by June 1st
Be available before June 28th for a minimum of 9 weeks
Speak fluent English
Have a passport that is valid at least 6 months after your return date
Be able to prove to the American Consulate that you have reason to return to your home country (e.g. student status or employment).
Be willing to attend a personal interview with a regional interviewer
