Advanced Practice Provider / Nurse\'s Needed / Summer Staff /

The mission of the Victory Junction Gang is to enrich the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment. The medical capabilities of the Camp provide the means of fulfilling this mission statement, and our goal is to be a medical center of excellence for each of the conditions or illnesses we serve.

Full capacity is 128 campers, and approximately 300 total residents. Programs include ten five-day disease-specific sessions during the summer, and three-day family weekends (on average, every other weekend) throughout the remainder of the year. The Camp is tobacco, alcohol, drug, and peanut-free.

Duration / Dates

Must be available mid-May through August for a Summer Unit Nurse.
APP - Full-time, year round.

Summer Unit Nurse - As a Summer Unit Nurse you will be directly responsible for a group of campers medical needs for the week, You will review all files, administer all medications, assist with ADLS, provide all treatments. You will work with a volunteer each week. You will work closely with the Nursing Director, a variety of other practioners including other nurses, students, PAs, NPs and residents, MDs. Summer Unit Nurses report directly to the Nursing Director.
You will also work very closely with the Unit leaders, all summer staff counselors and other camp leaders.
Housing is provided. Salary is competitive. Partial COBRA reimbursement available.

Advanced Practice Provider - Our permanent medical facility, Goods Body Shop, is currently supervised by the Medical and Nursing Directors. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will become our third, full-time medical staff employee, and will assist the Medical and Nursing Directors in multiple ways. The APP's primary responsibility will be the provision of superior medical care through the clinical assessment and treatment of campers, volunteers, and staff. In the absence of the Medical Director, the APP will be the acting medical director. In the absence of the Nursing Director, the APP will temporarily assume her duties.

The APP must be an energetic, creative, and fun individual, able to serve as a role model to staff, and committed to helping children with special needs. The work environment is unique and challenging, but very rewarding. Responsibilities and work schedule will vary significantly, depending upon the particular illness group being served, the amount and type of volunteer help available for each session, and other factors.
